First off, let us say that we’re big GHerbo fans. We love majority of his early work and we respect Herb’s plight and vision. Swervo was highly anticipated. Off the first listen, our fresh thoughts on Swervo are all over the place. It’s decent, but there’s definitely some fire in the midst!
We were definitely disappointed with the self titled track, “Swervo”. It wasn’t terrible but it was so simple and commercial it left an unfamiliar taste from Herbo with us. The beat is very dope and catchy though. We love Sizzle/Southside from back in Lex Luger Era of trap beats. Southside definitely did Swervo justice with this album. But we weren’t all the way let down because Swervo gave us a bit more to look for and listen to later in the album.
Letter, Pac N Dre, 100 Sticks, and FoReal bring the vibes we need from Herbo. We even got a feature from Sosa himself with Catch Up. Swervo includes other artist such as Young Thug and 21 Savage. This album is a decent release from Herbo, receiving a 7.5/10 off initial listen. This is pretty good though, albums usually grow on you with a second or third listen. Check it out below.
